Dr Olanrewaju Oshin, Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ikorodu Local Government, has hinted that the former aspirant for the Ikorodu Federal seat in the House of Representatives, Mr AbdulAzeez Adekunle Awesu will be the sole candidate of the opposition party for the Ikorodu LG Chairmanship election.

Oshin made the revelation while speaking with THE IMPACT at the PDP secretariat at Olubi Street in Ikorodu, on Tuesday.

The opposition leader who stated that there are more than 10 members of the party that are also vying for the same position, hinted that they are in talk with them on the need to adopt Awesu and prevent unnecessary bickering within the party.

“PDP is an organized party with programmes which are well planned. We know how we play our games at every given period.

“We have more than 10 contestants for the Ikorodu LGA Chairmanship position alone, but we felt that we cannot be competing unnecessarily. Awesu is all over the town because we already know that he is our candidate.

“That is why he is the only face that you are seeing all over the place.” Dr. Oshin said.

The PDP Chairman also stated that the party would be contesting for all the available Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the local government:

“Gone are the days when our arty will be sidelined, or boycott an election. If it is announced today that there are 1000 councils to be contested for, we are ready to contest. We are not going to leave anything untouched.

“Even if the electoral body announces that there is position for street sweepers, we are going to contest for it. We are contesting in the 20 LGs and 37 LCDAs and also going to contest for the chairmanship and councillorship positions”, Dr Oshin said.
